Job Summary of Freight Logistics Worker:
The task of a Freight Logistics Worker entails the transportation of cargo to and from trailers in a dock area for loading purposes. It involves the movement of freight and materials in warehouse or distribution settings. The responsibilities include unloading, sorting, storing, and readying products for shipping.
Responsibilities of Freight Logistics Worker:
• Engage in the handling of goods for transportation utilizing suitable motorized and manual tools such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Confirm that the documentation aligns with the freight details such as the type of items, their weight, and whether they include any hazardous materials by utilizing the existing electronic or manual systems.
• Safeguard cargo within trailers by utilizing suitable equipment and materials such as pallets, straps, and ropes.
• Assist with the recovery and restoration of impaired cargo as required. Validate and finalize essential paperwork and records. Aide clients with cargo and associated paperwork when requested.
• Execute hosting responsibilities when necessary.
• Adhere to all relevant laws and regulations, along with the established policies and procedures of the organization.
• Fulfill additional tasks as necessary.
Qualification of Freight Logistics Worker:
• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or fork lift operations preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.
Working Conditions of Freight Logistics Worker:
• Dock setting entails being subjected to a range of weather elements, vehicle emissions, airborne particles, and loud sounds.
• Operational requirements may cause fluctuations in working hours
