Amazon is seeking a Senior Manager, Data Science to lead science efforts for the Product and Sales Specialist (PSS) organization within Amazon Advertising. The science leader in this role will build a team focused on developing predictive models and generating insights that will influence the strategic decision making of the advertising sales org and drive increased participation and investments in programmatic, performance and branding sales programs. This is a visible and impactful position that involves translating broad business problems into specific analytics projects, conducting deep quantitative analyses, and communicating results effectively.
A Successful Candidate In This Role Will
The Product and Sales Specialist (PSS) organization is a newly formed team within Advertising Sales organization. Our products include Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, DSP, OTT, Twitch, Audio and Devices. As Ads continue to expand its capabilities across performance, brand and Ad Tech advertising, customers will have many new decisions to make when optimizing product and feature utilization in order to achieve business outcomes. PSS will intercept this complexity and aid advertisers and agencies with solutions/packages focused around discrete marketing objectives and buyer personas. The team will focus on insights and analytics to unlock advertiser success. This will minimize the customer effort required to find the optimal balance across Amazon s broad set of capabilities, while at the same time delivering improved business outcomes.

- Identify areas beyond core responsibilities that will contribute to the team's success.

- Be able to use data to develop compelling narratives for a diverse customer base.
- Form trusted partnership with stakeholders to define key business needs and deliver on commitments.
- Enable effective decision making by aggregating and compiling data from multiple sources into a digestible and actionable format.
- Innovate on behalf of the customer, by proactively implementing improvements and developing creative solutions to challenges not yet identified.
- Lead and provide coaching to a team of Data Scientists and Data Engineers.
- Partner with Engineering, Product and Machine Learning leaders to develop data-driven business strategy.
- Own the full development cycle: idea, design, prototype, impact assessment, A/B testing (including interpretation of results).
- Scale analytics and insights offerings to multiple products.
- Be the voice of the customer across products and determine trends vs. outliers.

Basic Qualifications
- MS or PhD in an quantitative area such as mathematics, statistics, economics or similar.
- 10+ years of experience producing models and analytics for business applications.
- Experience in standard machine-learning and statistical modeling tools and techniques (e.g. gradient-boosted regression, logistic regression).
- Familiarity with probability, probability distributions, statistics and causal inference.
- Experience in programming in R, Python, Scala or similar languages.
- 5+ years of hiring and managing science teams.
- Demonstrated experience developing successful analytics-based solutions to business problems.
- Knowledge of various machine learning techniques and key parameters that affect their performance.
- Knowledge of current ML techniques leverages within consumer facing technology companies.
- Demonstrated ability to balance technical and business needs to make the right decisions about technology, models and methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to independently drive issues to resolution while communicating insights to non-technical audiences.
- Experience partnering with Sales organizations within digital advertising space.
