DESCRIPTION

The Devices and Services Brand Studio is looking for a dynamic, multifaceted brand builder to join Amazon as a Senior Brand Strategist. A comprehensive yet incisive thinker, this individual will be responsible for crafting and driving alignment on the strategic elements of brand strategy, including brand positioning, brand architecture, creative strategy, and brand identity, and to then steward that strategy through the creative processes - from UX considerations through marketing and engagement campaigns - to positively shift perceptions, influence desired customer behaviors, and grow our businesses. You ll have the opportunity to refine and shape established world-class brands, including Alexa, Echo, Fire TV, and Kindle, as well as to define new brands, products, services, and programs.

The Senior Brand Strategist works closely with teammates and partners across Naming Strategy, Customer Insights, Brand Design, Content Strategy, Brand Marketing, Go-to-Market, Product Management, UX and Industrial Design, as well as with brand, business, and legal stakeholders in other parts of Amazon, agencies and external companies. This individual thrives in complex and fast-paced environments and is gifted at finding a true, distinctive, and compellingly clear strategic narrative in the face of the most complicated business and consumer challenges.

Key job responsibilities
  • Developing and/or maintaining clear strategic brand frameworks, grounded in qualitative/quantitative insights, to effectively position our Devices and Services brands for near- and long-term success.
  • Socializing and activating strategic brand frameworks across the Devices and Services org and beyond, to influence customer experience, product roadmaps/prioritization, marketing activations, content creation, etc.
  • Authoring creative briefs that inspire and inform big ideas, from macro-level brand briefs to targeted/tactical briefs to guide marketing campaigns, PR events, and/or channel needs.
  • Collaborating with creative and brand marketing teams, and at times agency partners, to ensure strategic alignment of creative executions and marketing activations against the brand framework/briefs.
  • Designing and lead workshops to dive deep on customer, category, cultural insights, and short- and long-term business goals with partners such as product, go-to-market, insights, and design.
  • Demonstrating strategic thought leadership by contributing to team communications and knowledge sharing mechanisms that disseminate brand outcomes and insights across the organization and broader Amazon brand community.
  • Collaborating with Naming Strategists to arrive at briefs for product, service, and brand naming, acting as a stakeholder throughout the naming process.
  • Partnering with Brand Managers to develop and publish strategic brand guidance to the Amazon Brand Portal, and to design and refine processes that capture and scale the team s best practices.

You ll start the day with an optional virtual meeting with your fellow Brand Strategy teammates to simply connect. You will go on to balance time to think and create with meeting/collaboration time, where you ll learn about new projects and deliver work against others. You ll check in with other strategists to bounce around ideas, or to ensure you re applying the team s best practices and historical knowledge. You ll find time to learn and enjoy Amazon s unique culture, and may take in a training or attend a Fishbowl. You may lead a creative workshop, where you ll bring a passion for customers and a currency in global technology and consumer brand trends from which you ll draw learnings and success criteria. You may attend a go-to-market reviews, where you ll bring confidently share customer obsessed, imaginative ideas and perspectives. You ll attend creative and strategy reviews, where you ll respectfully and insightfully help others find opportunities to raise the creative bar in order to activate the brand and connect to business goals. You ll juggle multiple priorities by meticulous management of details, and having solid instincts on communication flows. You ll wrap your day inspired by the open and productive strategic debates you ve facilitated, knowing you re working towards the best possible outcomes for customers.

About The Team

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5-10 years experience as a brand strategist/planner within advertising agencies, brand strategy consultancies, or the equivalent role inside a brand marketing organization, where accountable for delivering for top global consumer brands.
  • BA or BS in business or liberal arts, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Track record of navigating complex businesses and producing breakthrough, famous brand work that drove results.
  • Fluency in brand strategies with the ability to articulate your knowledge in a way that resonates with peers of technical or other non-marketing backgrounds.
  • Superior narrative writing skills, with talent in developing communications frameworks and insights-driven creative briefs, and the ability to clearly articulate your multi-dimensional thinking in a white-paper format.
  • Exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills, and the ability to facilitate creative work sessions with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to shift from thinking big to rolling up your sleeves to execute smaller tasks.
  • Curiosity about Amazon devices and smart home technologies.
