Job summary


Each year Amazon delights hundreds of millions of customers around the world with innovative and fun devices including Echo, Kindle, Fire TV, Fire Tablet, Ring, and others.


In order do this efficiently & profitably, we need teams, tools, and leadership to accurately plan for the demand of these millions of products.


These planning forecasts are used to determine unit number production, inventory and supply chain needs, production scheduling, transportation and delivery routing, and a host of other critical mechanisms.


The planning function for Amazon’s Devices and Services organization plays a critical role in getting our world class devices to our customers in time, through the right delivery channels and at the lowest cost.


We are seeking a leader who can raise the bar for what excellence in this function. You will be expected to drive the long-term vision for this function through excellence, automation and accuracy through prediction services products and create tools that drive scalability and dependability in the planning process for all the device product lines.


This is a high-visibility role for a business-critical function that has a global user base and a major impact on Amazon’s growth and bottom line.


The role will require ability to engage and influence multiple partner teams like Device Economics, Customer Experience and Product Lines to create a well aligned strategy that gets products to the hands of our customers.


It will require constant engagement with multiple Directors leading Amazon Device product lines, partner groups as well as to the SVP of Devices and Services organization


Key job responsibilities



  • Delivering high standards for the Devices Planning function

  • Defining the vision for our planning products, and achieving that vision

  • Diving into data to understand areas of opportunity, defects, and customer needs

  • Working backwards from customers in supply chain and retail to define the planning strategy

  • Partnering closely with scientists and engineering team on a roadmap for our products

  • Communicate and earn trust with our customers in supply chain and the product line owners

  • Working cross-functionally with multiple other supply chain teams to deliver on new initiatives

  • Driving strategic communications (e.g. decision narratives, investment proposals)

  • Communicating, earning trust, and influencing stakeholders from multiple organizations


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 5+ years of experience in product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology

  • Experience with end to end product delivery

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Experience overseeing roadmap strategy and definition


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • MBA and / or Master's Degree / PhD or equivalent industry experience

  • Direct experience with analytical, forecasting, or other tool technologies (ie. developer tools)


  • Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between

  • Experience working backwards from the customer and delivering innovative, simple solutions

  • Commitment to building inclusive teams
