  • Will work with terminal managers and DC Managers to develop daily load plans for the movement of Yellow's daily shipments across the network to reduce transfer of shipments and improve service to our customers.
  • Review live shipment data in several technology applications and optimize the static load plan to reduce transfers, match driver and trailer resources and meet service requirements.
  • Look for direct point to point load opportunities and direct to destinate distribution center loads.
  • Ensure direct load percentages and on-time service goals are met by leading discussions with terminal operations teams to ensure daily load plan is met to compliance standards.
  • Develop a load plan that ensures departure time compliance targets are met.
  • Coordinate with Velocity DC manager to set dock doors for optimal load and dock plan.
  • Generate and review metrics such as KPI reports to meet load plan objectives.
  • Review freight flow patterns and implement actions necessary to minimize empty or partially loaded miles.
  • Knowledge of intermodal and purchase transportation departure and availability times.
  • Participate in daily meetings to communicate issues, deviations to the plan along with courses of action.

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required, experience with five or more (5+) years in the motor carrier industry and/ or with dispatch functions.
  • Excellent communication/leadership skills.
  • Effective training and coaching capabilities.
  • Utilization of basic Microsoft applications and software such as Excel and Access a plus.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource principles, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • This is not a remote position, must be on site at a Velocity DC.
  • Experience in operations or linehaul.
  • Complete knowledge and understanding of network operations.
  • Experience working in logistics.
  • Knowledge of applicable collective bargaining and work rule agreements.
  • Knowledge of Hazmat and DOT regulations.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment indoors.
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  • The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying.
  • Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
